How Does A Truck-mounted Crane Work?

When an operator needs to lift cargo, they first position the truck appropriately and secure it in place to prevent any movement during the lifting process. Next, the crane's power system is engaged-typically powered by the truck's engine or a dedicated hydraulic power unit. This power is transmitted to the crane boom's extension mechanism; using hydraulic cylinders, the boom can extend or retract to reach the cargo's location. The luffing mechanism is then used to adjust the angle of the boom, ensuring the hook is precisely aligned with the cargo. The hook is lowered, and the operator-using the control system inside the cab-maneuvers the rigging to securely attach the hook to the cargo. Once everything is ready, the operator uses the controls to raise the boom, lifting the cargo. Finally, the slewing mechanism rotates the boom and the load until they are positioned over the truck bed, where the cargo is then carefully lowered into place, completing the lifting operation.
