Classification of Truck-Mounted Cranes

Based on their chassis structure and functionality, truck-mounted cranes can be categorized into several types:
Full-trailer truck-mounted cranes: These utilize a lightweight or ultra-lightweight vehicle chassis equipped with an engineering crane (with a lifting capacity exceeding 50 ton-meters). They are capable of high-speed travel and specialized construction tasks; they are easy to operate and widely used in urban environments.
Semi-trailer truck-mounted cranes: In this configuration, the lifting equipment is separate from the main vehicle chassis, typically consisting of a tractor unit coupled with a trailer that carries the crane machinery. These cranes offer flexible assembly and disassembly, as well as convenient relocation, making them well-suited for temporary emergency response and rescue operations.
Cab-over (flat-front) truck-mounted cranes: These feature the longest boom lengths and the highest load-bearing capacities. They often incorporate characteristics from other configurations, such as platform-style counterweights and telescopic boom mechanisms.
Self-elevating truck-mounted cranes: Utilizing advanced technologies-such as lifting columns and balance arms-these cranes can ingeniously stow the boom beneath the vehicle body. This design overcomes the height-limit issues that often hinder the transport of conventional cranes.
Integrated truck-mounted cranes: These feature a design where the chassis and the crane boom are fully integrated. Known for being safe, reliable, and efficient, they are primarily used for road maintenance, municipal construction, and short-distance cargo loading and unloading.
Vehicle-mounted waste collection/dumping units: These are specialized vehicles designed for urban sanitation and cleaning. Their lifting boom assemblies can be equipped with storage compartments for recyclables, as well as splash-proof covers for waste bins-a useful feature during rainy weather.
